In a nutshell, a podcast can be thought of as an “online radio show”. Students can easily record content and make it available on the web for a real, authentic audience. Podcasts are usually published as RSS feeds, which allow for listeners to subscribe and receive updated content as new podcasts are recorded. These can be downloaded and listened to on a computer or mobile media player (such as an iPod).
There are countless ways to use podcasts in the classroom. The technology is simple and easy to use and students love to hear their voices recorded!
